Manscaping is the process of trimming your body hair as a man, and especially body hair around the groin area. But manscaping is a very delicate operation that requires care, and if you’re not careful, it’s easy to see things going wrong. That’s why Manscapedwas born: to help men manscape with their line of manscaping products. Personally, I was quite curious about Manscaped and wanted to try it ever since I first heard about it, but never really got round to it. Now, as a volunteer editor for OutwitTrade, I’m quite keen to publish my findings on it. So here’s my Manscaped review for 2020 based on my experiences with the company and product so far.
But first… should you even manscape?
There are plenty of people that believe that yes, men should manscape. Here’s what the manscaped.com website says:
Regarding that claim that “80% of women think men should manscape below the belt,” I’m not sure where this “independent study” comes from or where the link to it is, but in any case, it is definitely the case that many (if not necessarily 80%) women prefer their male partner to shave down under. Personally, after trying Manscaped, I definitely like the feeling of being clean-cut and know that my partner prefers it too. But I can’t claim that you absolutely should manscape, nor am I aware of a reputable study showing exactly what percentage of women want their male partner to manscape. So it’s up to you.
UPDATE, May 2020: We’re actually collecting responses on this topic and have published a new piece on whether men should manscape here.
What products does Manscaped offer?
Quite a few. Manscaped does not just sell products to help men manscape, but also some clothing products (boxers & t-shirt), a bag (“THE SHED”) and fresh breath mints (“MAN MINT”). I’ve not tried those, however, and they hold no interest to me. I will only be covering Manscaped’s shaving products, which consist of trimmers and formulations. It’s best to buy a set containing both trimmers and formulations. Here are the sets that Manscaped offers:
THE PERFECT PACKAGE 3.0 ($89.99): This includes The Lawn Mower 3.0 (an electric trimmer for groin grooming and hygiene), a pair of boxers, a Crop Preserver (deodorant for your testicles), a Crop Reviver (a ball toner spray), a shaving mat, and a travel/storage bag.
THE PERFECT PACKAGE 2.0 ($74.99): This is the same as the 3.0 package, except it has The Lawn Mower 2.0 instead of The Lawn Mower 3.0. So what’s the difference between those shavers?
The advantages of The Lawn Mower 3.0 vs The Lawn Mower 2.0
— Higher RPM (7,000 vs 6,000)
— Lithium-ion batteries instead of AA batteries, which last 90 minutes instead of 60
— Can be recharged via USB
— Has a charging dock
— Has an LED light
I believe it’s worth the extra $15 to get The Lawn Mower 3.0. Given the quality of the product, there’s a good chance you’ll be using it for years, so you might as well get the best one.

THE NUTS & BOLTS 2.0 SET ($54.99): Manscaped markets this as “the bare essentials for the job,” and that’s exactly what it is: you get The Lawn Mower 2.0 trimmer and the Crop Preserver. That’s enough to get you started.
Was Manscaped on Shark Tank?
Yep, and actually, that’s what really propelled it. I can’t find the episode on YouTube and reluctant to upload it myself due to potential copyright/legality issues, but it came on in late 2018 and was quite successful: the sharks Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner together invested $500,000 in Manscaped in return for 25% of the company, valuing the company at $2 million. I would assume that that was a pretty good investment, as Manscaped has grown a lot in popularity a lot since then.

Are there any Manscaped coupons or discount codes?
According to https://www.manscaped.com/blogs/news/how-to-make-money-in-the-manscaped-partner-program, “By just telling your friends and contacts about Manscaped’s male grooming products, you get the chance to help men get a 20% off discount on Manscaped Products.” I was excited to sign up to this and post a 20% discount link, but I haven’t been able to sign up to http://partner.manscaped.com as it’s just a dead link to me. I also emailed Manscaped about it at the address they give for their partner program (partners@manscaped.com) and never got a response. Very slack! (update: these links are now dead)
To the best of my knowledge, at this time (October 2020) there are no working coupon codes for Manscaped. Please comment if you have one!
Is Manscaped worth it?
What follows is my experience with Manscaped as an early-30’s male in a committed relationship, with a strong head of hair and a tendency to grow reasonably thick body hair.
I found The Lawn Mower 3.0 to work very effectively — the blades are very well crafted and don’t nick or cut any sensitive parts, and it cuts through extremely easily no matter what kind of hair you are shaving, just like how a lawnmower works with all kinds of different types of grass (hence the name lawnmower?). It’s also a very well made product, being completely waterproof (makes it nice to use in the shower), and it’s very ergonomic and fit my hand very well. I also like that it was very quiet. The other good thing is the well-lit LED lights which make it easy to see in a steamy shower.
As far as disadvantages? If I had to pick one, the on/off button is a bit too easy to accidentally press. There’s no indent or anything for it, and if you’re fiddling around with it in the shaver, you may find the design there is rather careless as the button lies right where your thumb will probably land when you’re holding it. I personally found myself accidentally turning it off while I was shaving twice. The other thing is the price. As a specialty product, this is more costly than trimmers from Norelco, Remington and Wahl (to name a few) that you can get for below $40 USD, and there are some that argue that those trimmers work just as well for shaving groin hair as well. I haven’t tried every shaver out there, so I can’t necessarily comment. But I can say that outside of the lousy on/off button placement and the price, the shaver itself works pretty damn well.
I strongly advise you to take your time while using this trimmer. I personally spend at least 5-10 minutes shaving around my testicles and take care to make sure the skin is evened out and flat — make sure there are no folds and you’ll be fine. If you’ve used this many times and never had a problem, it’s easy to get complacent and rush the job. DON’T! Always shave with care.
My final verdict
I love my Manscaped trimmer and am glad I got it. Sure, it’s a bit on the pricey side and isn’t perfect, but given how long I intend to use it and the overall quality of the product, I’d say it’s still money well spent. I may have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the crappy design of the on/off button. Otherwise, no major complaints.
If you would like to get a Manscaped trimmer, Amazon is the best place to get it right now to the best of my knowledge. You can pick up the latest Manscaped trimmer on Amazon here.
What do other men say about Manscaped?
I was curious to get feedback from other men who have tried Manscaped, and put out a request. Here’s what I got back:I tried the Manscaped Lawn Mower for removing body hair and I was pretty impressed. In the past I’ve tried using razors that were designed for either the face or the top of the head, and found that both kinds had their disadvantages. The ones designed for the face were good for getting a close shave, but they didn’t have the right attachments for other parts of the body, and to be honest I felt weird about using them on my face again after shaving other body parts. The ones designed for shaving the top of your head had the opposite problem: they didn’t get close enough, and they weren’t as sensitive. Using them felt a little too dangerous, and I wasn’t really looking to take any chances. Manscaped’s shaver split the difference. It gave me both a close shave without any risk of knicking myself, which was exactly what I was looking for. I was really happy with it, and can see why it’s gotten so many positive reviews online. --Dave Bowden, Irreverent Gent PERMALINK: https://outwittrade.com/manscaped-review#dave |
I’m a hairy dude, and having excessive hair even in places where the sun doesn’t shine is not fun (especially in the summer). I wanted to feel better about myself and also less hairy. So I bought Manscaped Lawn Mower 3.0 for removing body hair and I was pleasantly surprised. The shaver was damn good for removing my facial hair as well as the hair on certain parts of my body. It shaves a little too close to the skin, so I had to be careful with this one. Apart from that, it removed even the smallest hairs. It gave me a nice clean shave without any risk of cutting myself. It’s also very easy to maintain. The shaver is great not just for facial and body hair, but also for head shaving. The Lawn Mower is now my go-to shaver when at home or traveling. --Christian Antonoff, shootingandsafety.com PERMALINK: https://outwittrade.com/manscaped-review#christian |
I’m here to review the Manscape Lawn Mower 3.0 by Manscape. The 3.0 shaver is a bit taller than the 2.0. When I first charged this shaver I used the charging base instead of just a direct wire that goes into the shaver. This charging base has extremely fast-charging power and lasts long. The light on top of the shaver is a nice feature that makes it easier when you’re trying to navigate the shaver precisely. The shaver seems very safe with its anti-cut technology and they make it very clear with the plastic that sits on top of the metal teeth. I didn’t get cut at all. The waterproof technology makes my time-efficient for showering and shaving which is awesome! I really enjoyed this shaver and will buy more Manscape products! --Deshon, audiblwav.com PERMALINK: https://outwittrade.com/manscaped-review#deshon |
